A Seed Planted

The Pregnancy Care Center does much more than simply hand out diapers and formula. We do more than offer free advice and counseling. And we do more than open our ears and arms to those in crisis. At the Pregnancy Care Center we do all these things but so much more. We plant seeds and pray growth over what has been planted each day in the classroom, counseling room, ultrasound room and beyond so that this generation will know the truth for the next generation. Recently one parent wrote a note of gratitude not only for the services we provided her daughter but the seed that was planted through that service.

"Thank you so much for the kind treatment that was shown to my daughter and her boyfriend. My daughter was raised in the church however her boyfriend was not. I believe a seed about God has been planted. He does not have a male mentor and you have gotten his attention, each time he has met with one of the male counselors. My daughter had her ultrasound and was treated very well. This is my first grandchild and while the children have done things out of God's order-God makes no mistakes and His glory will shine in this. I am thankful for the PCC. Blessings to you all."

God has called us to so much more! "But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown." Matthew 13:23

Find Healing

Two new Bible Studies will begin on March 26th through the Abortion Recovery Ministry. The Forgiven and Set Free study will take place in Shelbyville with Chris Bullock and in Columbus with Sarah Dismore. Sarah recently made a video of her testimony which can be viewed on http://vimeo.com/38000318.

Through the Forgiven and Set Free study, women find a non-judgmental, confidential and safe small group environment where they can share their experiences, work through the pain and hurts surrounding their abortion and explore ways to find healing. In fact, many women have found healing through these meetings and studies and have had the following to say about their experience:

“The Forgiven and Set Free Program has liberated me, my marriage and my relationship with my children. It has moved me into a deep, intimate relationship with a heavenly Father who is big enough to cover ALL my sins!”

“I did not even know I needed to be healed! It was as if I was running a race unaware that a cart was attached to me that weighed me down and pulled me backwards. Now, I know that God is more than enough to forgive even me, remove the cart and send me soaring as a Forgiven Child of God....I have been given a new, fresh start to life!”

“I am in awe of how deeply God loves me. I could continue my entire life hauling my baggage and pushing it down when it flared up, but He has better plans for me. I could go on and on but truly, I just want to say thank you! Thank you for pushing me off the ledge of what I thought was a-0kay into a world of HOPE and Forgiveness. I am so very thankful. Praying Christ shines through the cracks in my pot!”

“The study allowed me not only to face my past decision, but learn that the God I so wanted to run away from, was with me all along. I was young, unprepared and unknowing of all the emotional and physical turmoil that that one decision could do to me. Through this study I was able to gain acceptance and forgive myself for my past decisions I have made and I am so thankful to God for healing me and giving me the life I have now.”

Bible Signing Sunday

First Baptist Church of North Vernon recently partnered with the Pregnancy Care Center and organized a Bible Signing Sunday! Church members purchased the Beautiful Everyday Bible and wrote an encouraging message on the dedication page for one of our clients to receive. Bibles were then distributed to the Jennings County Center where PCC peer counselors will have the opportunity to hand the personalized Bibles out to the women with whom they minister. Debbie Morin, the Ambassador for First Baptist Church headed up the project saying, “I liked the idea of the PCC Bible signing because people had the opportunity to be God's hands & feet by writing an encouraging note with a scripture. It was an awesome way to be able to give someone in need a Bible that can change their life like nothing else can.”

The Beautiful Everyday Bible can be purchased at The Ark or Heaven Scent Bookstores in Columbus. If you or your church would like more information about participating in a Bible Signing Sunday, please contact Abby Glasser at abbyg@affirminiglifeonline.org.

A Journey Through Banquet Season

It all starts just after the first of the year.
Planning, preparations, prayer…the entire office takes on a different look…its Banquet Season. Knowing that hard work, diligence and extreme organization is needed we start the season off with Prayer! Praying for sponsors, table hosts, the Banquet speaker, volunteers, staff and those that will ultimately attend each event. We pray for the Holy Spirit to work through the keynote speaker as they prepare the important message thousands in support of the PCC will hear. We pray for sponsors to generously partner with us so every dollar earned at the banquets goes straight to the ministry. We pray for table hosts to join us in filling tables of supporters and those that might become supporters. We pray for health and endurance of the many volunteers and staff that will pour countless hours into making sure the banquets run smoothly and successfully. And we pray for those who will attend each night. We pray they will give, pray, volunteer. We pray they will become a partner in this fight for life.

Next comes the planning and preparations, which is an exciting job to say the least. Working with talented and creative staff, volunteers and outside organizations to make sure every aspect is thought through and finished well. From the color of the napkins to the sponsors getting correct acknowledgement, everything has to be ready to go by that first night and remain ready to go by the fifth and last banquet. Things can get a little busy and crazy but what a thrill to see it all come together!

Although there are always glitches and things that don’t necessarily go as planned each evening is such a reward! Meeting new people, hearing how they have enjoyed the evening and love supporting such a great ministry. It gives just the motivation and energy needed to do it all over again (four more times)!

Staying up late, organizing, reorganizing, packing, repacking…ahh, banquet season…how I love you but am glad you are only a few months! So today as I am in the process of wrapping everything up and putting everything away I wonder what ever will I do next? Golf Challenge perhaps? I’m sure I will figure something out.
