Take Part in our "Burma-Shave" Golf Challenge Ad Contest

Do you remember the old Burma-Shave road sign advertisements? Last year, our staff developed a similar ad campaign along the paths at Otter Creek Golf Course during our Golf Challenge and then again along the walking path during the Walk for Life.

It was a fun way to share the work of the ministry with our golfers and walkers. Here are just a few of the saying that were found along the"roadside" at those events:

North, South

East, West
Pointing families
To God’s Best
My Best for You

Satan’s lies exposed
God’s truth explored
Keeping kid’s lives
Out of the rough
Transformed

The car’s back seat
Is the devil’s bait
We teach our kids
To Choose to Wait
Pregnancy Care Center

A baby
A Mom
A Dad, that’s three
With PCC’s help
Can become one family
Pregnancy Care Center

She saw the screen
Her heart went wild
Her choice was clear
When she saw her child
Pregnancy Care Center

They made a choice
Their past was set
We teach them hope
Freedom from regret
Forgiven and Set Free

Our staff came up with these slogans last year and this time around we want to invite YOU to join in on the creative fun. If you have a heart for this ministry and a creative mind, send us your ideas and we just might use them at this year’s Golf Challenge and Walk for Life. Send your ideas to Abby Glasser by July 1st to take part of the fun. If you have any questions, Abby can be reached at 812-378-4114 or toll free at 866-510-5067.

More Than A Club

Recently, the National Honor Society at Columbus North High School organized a fundraiser for the Pregnancy Care Centers of South Central Indiana. Numerous items were gathered and donated to use in our Layettes, also knows as a “Baby Shower in a Bag.” Items donated included onesies, diapers, pacifiers, wipes, lotion, powder, bottles, sleepers and more. Moms and dads will receive these donated items through the Pregnancy Care Center and be able to use them when they bring their new baby home.

The National Honor Society works with many different charitable organizations throughout the community, organizing fundraisers and community service activities. Chad Russell, the Advisor for the group, says, “I'm always impressed with [the groups] hard work since they are also all busy with academics, athletics, choir, band, theater, & journalism. That these active students also recognize the importance of community service and citizenship is amazing.”

We are so grateful for the students at Columbus North High School and their service not only to the Pregnancy Care Center but to the community.

Happy Birthday Phillip!

Phillip called the office wanting to know how he could run a fundraiser for the Pregnancy Care Center. After realizing this wasn't a prank phone call (this isn't quite the usual phone call we get) I proceeded to ask questions and get humbling answers. Phillip grew up in a single parent home not quite understanding the sacrifice his mother made each day until recently. He wanted to make his upcoming birthday not a celebration about him but a celebration for single parents.

He was calling May 5th National Single Parent Awareness Day. Friends and family would be gathering at his home to help him celebrate but he wanted to take it one step further by raising funds to donate to the Pregnancy Care Center. Baby bottles were handed out to guests, donations were taken and literature about the Pregnancy Care Center for anyone who knew of a mom or dad needing our services was given out. Phillip set a goal to raise $100 during this first annual National Single Parent Awareness Day but said God could do with it whatever He willed. However, Phillip nearly doubled that goal. Happy Birthday Phillip and Happy Single Parent Awareness Day!!

My Best For You

My Best for You (MBFY) is just one of the abstinence programs that explores God’s plan for sexuality offered by the Pregnancy Care Centers of South Central Indiana. A Workshop for upper elementary students and their parents, the MBFY program reached more than 77 parents and 101 students from 11 different churches in the month of March alone. Below are just a few of the comments received after the program.

  • “The programs were absolutely incredible. I heard nothing but great things from the parents that attended with their child as well as the students themselves. The program was well put together and presented in a way all the students could understand. It is a fine program and am looking forward to having you all here again in 2 years. Thank you so much for your love of Christ and his young children.” ---host Church Pastor
  • “It was very informative and answered so many questions I had.”—female student
  • “I thought it would be a little strange, but it turned out to be something fun….I loved the excitement and joy the presenters brought. I liked how they were clear on what they said.”—female student
  • “It helped me understand lots of things I hadn’t earlier….I will know what to do and how to say things.”—female student
  • So Awesome—thank you for answering those tough questions so I know how to talk to my kids about his stuff….I really got it through discussion, examples, etc….So empowering.”—female adult
  • “This was very wonderful to open the door and communication. I’ve been stressed and anxious and unsure how to start this topic. The scripture is wonderful and useful to keep everything centered around God. The presenters relieved the anxiety of the issue and made it feel normal to discuss rather than stressful and awkward.”—female adult
